This 0.5 metre long column is part of the Premier Mounts Ceiling Mounting System.

It is designed to be used in conjunction with the Plasma LCD TV Bracket Mounts and Universal Projector Brackets which are then securely and safely mounted to the ceiling using the appropriate Ceiling Mounting.
